GWA’s representation of education discussion at the 2nd Annual US-Maghreb Entrepreneurship Conference at the invitation of  NAPEO (North African Partnership for Economic Opportunity), stressed once again GWA’s commitment to excellence, innovation, character building and equipping youth for leadership. GWA's Head of School, Dr David Welling, HS principal Tim Warren and Board members were GWA guests at the conference.

The George Washington Academy represented Morocco at the First International Emerging Leaders Conference in Richmond, Virginia. Four GWA students and a professor joined 60 students from 11 countries in Washington DC for discussions around foreign environmental issues and creation of innovative solutions.

GWA's students Waleed Helweeh, Maissoun Ksara, Adil Skalli, and Zineb Merzak were among the top students at the conference and interviewed by local papers for their views on Morocco and America. GWA’s commitment to ‘equipping minds; building character’ reaches out beyond our campus.

On Tuesday evening, September 27, GWA hosted Morocco’s SIFE National Championship winners. The 20 plus member team of Faculté des Sciences Juridiques et Sociales of Settat presented their near-final presentation to a panel of judges consisting of Global parents and staff who are also business owners. And a GWA senior, joined the panel.

The African Education Summit was a landmark event aimed at directly improving the quality of education. Deborah MacArthur, President of Global Education, made a presentation (PDF downloads of presentation and speech notes available at bottom of page) focused on giving girls greater access to schools, keeping them in school and equipping them to be leaders.

The George Washington Academy team has been nominated for the world's first major award for outstanding contributions to education. GWA was nominated for the WISE Prize for Education which is sponsored by the World Innovation Summit for Education, an initiative of Qatar Foundation. GWA's team was nominated because GWA has displayed a visionary and inspirational approach to education and made a lasting impact on education. GWA is one of many nominees from around the world.

Global Education and the George Washington Academy were the official judges at the 11th Annual National Public Speaking Competition hosted by Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane. Over 20 University students from 12 Moroccan universities competed to be the Morocco's National Champions. AUI asked the President of Global Education, Deborah MacArthur, and the English Department Chair, Guinevere McWhorter, to judge 25 university students on their speeches on "Lessons for the Future". The two winners were Rim El Atlassi from AUI and Chaimae Bakhalou from The University Moulay Ismail in Meknes.
